can I just say

I have seen some artists post journals and stuff actually telling people "don't draw my characters unless you ask me first because I only want them in certain styles/portrayals etc. etc."

like that's fine and all if you don't want fanart

but it seems extremely wrong to turn only certain people down who are GIFTING YOU FREE ART just because you "don't like their style"? like seriously, no one is forcing you to like/use the art in any way. But you shouldn't pick and choose out of people willing to put time and effort into a free gift for you simply because you don't like their art. Either accept it all or accept none. How hard is it to say "thank you" when you see an art piece made by someone for you, whether you love the style or not? You should be damn grateful they even bothered to make you art.

Some people just seem really pompous to me. There is no reason you can't accept all offers of gift art; I know if I offered to make art for someone and they said "no sorry I don't want the character in your style" i would be pissed and no longer EVER want to make the person anything again.

Sorry I'm in a poor mood and I've legit seen artists saying this and turning people down and it just comes off as someone who is really full of themselves in my opinion
